“I was frustrated with the fact that we weren't playing our game at all, and you could tell it ate them up. Some of them, I think they almost wanted it too much, so much that they overdid things. They were just afraid to play. Especially that second game, when we started out, ahead 17-9. Then we let them come back and win? That's when I said, come on, this is not my team.”
“I told the girls, don't get down, because we are the first and only team to ever take St. Louis to five games, and we could meet them again later on, so if there's one to lose, this one is it. Now they know that we can stick with them.”
“If you were to ask my players, they'd say no (a rematch), it wasn't on their minds, but I guarantee it was a thought. If you were to ask everybody in the audience - and it's not because they dislike St. Louis - but they wanted someone else to win, so they were probably cheering for us. “I didn't care that much about the first two (losses). That's what I told the girls. So what that we lost against them in the league tournament? I'd trade all that stuff, the CSAA title and the tournament, for just one district championship. We went down fighting. We just made some critical mistakes at the wrong times.”
