“My principal bought me my first membership in the Ottawa Lions (track club) because my family couldn't afford the $60 membership, but he saw some talent. But the one person I'd like to use this opportunity to thank is my mother. The drive, determination and will I've had over the last 18 years come from her. She sacrificed to bring five kids from Trinidad here to find a better life. I owe this to her.”
